HRP’s Farmington, Connecticut office has an immediate full-time Health and Safety Consultant / Asbestos Inspector opportunity for an individual with 0 to 5 years of experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse team of professionals to address complex environmental challenges executing the following roles / responsibilities. Note that duties associated with health and safety items are considered primary considerations and job duties of the position:
  • Assist with industrial hygiene related projects, including personal air sampling, indoor air quality assessment, noise assessments, mold assessments, water intrusion investigation, surface wipe sampling, facility decommissioning, qualitative assessments, etc.
  • The ability to work with a project manager to manage EH&S programs at client facilities serving as an EHS coordinator for various clients.
  • Assist with H&S audits / inspections and providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Assist with H&S management systems development, including drafting of standard operating procedures, guidance documents, and training programs.
  • Assist with the management of hazardous waste, including waste characterization, satellite area inspections, training, and correspondence with government agencies.
  • Assist with the development of and conduct site specific EH&S training programs, including but not limited to, Hazard Communication, Lockout / Tagout, Bloodborne Pathogens, Biosafety, Fall Protection, Ladder Safety, Hazardous Waste Management, Respiratory Protection, RCRA, DOT, IMDG, IATA, SPCC, HAZWOPER, etc.
  • Be motivated, outgoing, and can interact with employees within various industry settings.
  • Conduct job safety analyses for jobs / tasks conducted within various industry settings.
  • Conduct incident investigations for clients following incidents occurring at client sites.
  • Hazardous building material surveys for asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and other hazardous materials.
  • Develop specifications and assist with bid solicitation for asbestos, lead-based paint, PCBs, and other hazardous materials.
  • Assist with hazardous materials abatement oversight and project monitoring.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

The Health and Safety Consultant / Asbestos Inspector must have strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral/written communication skills and be proficient in MS Office products and appropriate professional level software. Specific qualifications for the role include:
  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Science or Engineering related field.
  • 0 to 5 years of experience in the environmental consulting field which includes execution and oversight of field work, particularly in the areas of hazardous building materials, indoor air quality, and industrial hygiene.
  • Report and specification writing, building inspections for hazardous materials such as lead, asbestos, mold, PCBs, and project monitoring of asbestos and lead abatement projects a plus.
  • The following certifications are a plus: Indoor Air Quality Training, HAZWOPER, OSHA 10 Construction Safety, CT Licensed Asbestos Inspector, CT Licensed Asbestos Project Monitor, CT Licensed Asbestos Management Planner, CT Licensed Asbestos Project Designer, CT Licensed Lead Inspector, CT Licensed Lead Risk.

For the Health & Safety Consultant / Asbestos Inspector position, we anticipate a salary base pay of $50,000.00 to $70,000.00 USD.  An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs.  We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above.
